  1. Legion, did you write that poem yourself? It is truly awesome. At first I thought it was copied and pasted from some place. I am so sorry about your mom. I will take time to re-read your poem.

I tried to get to the OT today before it is too late, but not doing so well. Incidentally, Legion, I also remember trying catching bees with cupped hands. It happened only once! haha

  2. Pete, am not preaching to others to do what I did (cause I’m not sure if I was lucky or smart) but mkt timing is what allowed me to crush you and others doing that dollar-averaging BS. Can you say you’re up 8% prior to the mkt pulled back and dragged us into this recession? I’m probably more lucky than smart – ie bought gold as a hedge vs. having any inclination that it would power up from 860 to 1240 now. my point is to believe dollar averaging is superior to mkt timing is as big a bullsh*t as the other way around – it’s suckers pitch from wall st crooks to make you retailer stay around “holding the bag”

  3. you don’t like people playing with anything of yours.

BTW, even tho you stood me up last night, I left trail of breadcrumbs so you could find your way home from work tonight over the manhattan bridge. That’s the kind of guy I am.

  4. “that and in 30 years honestly have nothing to show for it.” —- if that happens, nobody will have anything except for a few capitalists- then will have revolution and to the guillotine for them.

  5. quote:
youngsters like yourself shouldn’t be trying to time market (at least for your retirement 401k type savings). Just keep adding monthly thru thick and thin.

im very chary of this mentality. how do you know that for sure? i can honestly see millions of people doing that and in 30 years honestly have nothing to show for it. i really dont trust the 401K people who constantly come to our office to hold meetings telling us to contribute more. 1% is enough for me, im sorry. i like other people playing with my money.
