rob — hamptons Jitney takes you too far for a day trip. Robert Moses beach is great, has a changing room but no lockers you can lock. I did have a backpack stolen there once, so you need to be careful — don’t sit straight in front of the bathhouse, that’s the easiest target for theft. Head down the beach a ways. Minimize what you bring — leave most credit card, valuables etc. home. Separate your wallet, keys, cash so theft of one bag doesn’t mean you lose it all (small backpack, beach bag, etc.) Jones Beach is much more crowded and not as pretty (big sunbathing parking lot, no dunes, although perhaps it does ahve lockers — someone else will know). You can totally take LIRR to Robert Moses, with a transfer to a shuttle bus. It’s pretty quick.
I fully agree regarding Barton. I watched some of the proceedings last night, and couldn’t believe what I was watching. The most crass political grandstanding I have ever seen.
Let’s be clear: BP has accepted responsibility for the damages and apologized. Various technical inquiries are underway to understand what caused this catastrophe. Apparently this is not enough for our political leadership. A shakedown is expected, followed by groveling in front of a congressional committee.
The Associated Press has published this list of how much money members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee have received in political contributions from oil and gas interests since the beginning of 2009, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Contributions are from political action committees run by oil and gas companies and from individuals employed by those companies.

rob — what are you looking for out of a beach trip. Everyone’s giving you recs but no one knows what it is you want. A weekend? A day trip with a splash in the water? A town?
day trip, probably going solo so maybe a place with lockers? do beaches have lockers? if you go to the beach alone or if you go with other people and everyone goes in the ocean where do you put your stuff, just leave it there!? i mean ive been to beaches before all those times i was with someone who had a car and we put our stuff in the car when we went in the ocean. the times i went to coney island to go in the water kinda sucked cuz i could only just get wet up to my crotch because i didnt want the stuff in my wallet getting wet or my keys rusty. and i guess i got my head wet cuz i dipped it in but the whole time i looked like an ostrich. i wanna actually go completely in the water.
Congratulations to Congressman Joe Barton of the 6th
congressional district in Texas who had the
courage to apologise to Mr. Hayward for the treatment he had received appearing before this
subcommittee. He was the only one on the
committee with a sense of fair play; with a sense of
honour and who was in fact embarrassed by what his
fellow members of Congress were doing before the
cameras yesterday. We know nothing more about Mr.
Barton but we know this: when others were taking the
lowest road, he took the one much higher when the
chips were truly down.
“Someone is attractive enuf….no matter what they are doing(or wearing) they look great.”
OK, obviously anyone you’re in love with is exempt. Mrs Jackal is beautiful to me no matter what she is doing. This is more of the instantaneous judgment of someone who doesn’t fall into that category. My views on a person’s attractiveness are very influenced by what they are doing when I see them. Again, watching TV and loud public gabbing on cell phones are very unattractive to me.

It was as if all they wanted was for Hayward to incriminate both himself and BP in the face of all the lawsuits.
No idiot is going to do that.
cobbble, think jobs in TX and LA.

Do these congressmen believe in the rule of law?

Goat, for sure.
