  1. CHC,

OK, so we are both calling each other selective. I am not Mr. B, so what Mr. B chooses to post has nothing to do with whether my comment was covert racism, as BHO suggested. As I wrote, anyone can selectively take a handful of posts out of the more than 10,000 Mr. B must have posted since starting this site and make some kind of case for just about anything. If your argument is the What/BHO argument that Mr. B is running a site based on covert race warfare, your sample size is way too small given the overall volume of posts, and selectively excludes posts that would count against your argument — the Red Hook ballfield vendor posts I mentioned before being just a handful of examples.

Meanwhile, I really think the best thing to do is actually get Mr. B’s response and post it, and then dissect it if you want if you think it is BS. I did not respond to your first post, which raised fair questions. As someone pointed out in response to your first post, Mr, B, as far as anyone knows, rarely reads the OT, but does read his email. I objected to your second post because I thought you jumped the gun and made insinuations, without actually seeking a response. It seemed you were not actually interested in a response to your questions but wanted to make some rhetorical points. And for that, I was called a covert racist, although not by you.

P.S. DIBS is right; let the record reflect that I did not call either Dance Africa or Merce Cunningham “corny.” Love both.

“This is not “news” to most longtime New Yorkers. Not saying it isn’t a worthy article, but not really surprising.”

There’s alot of people on here who post or lurk that are not longtime New Yorkers. And these tactics are not used in every neighborhood so whie your yawning, it maybe be new to some. Peoples lives are affected while you shoulder shrug.

It’s touching that you care SO MUCH about the newcomers to the neighborhood!!!!

  3. Legion, do you like Castillian accents? With studying at Institute de Cervantes, I have gotten a chance to hear Cuban, Colombian, Argentinian, Mexican, and now I have a teacher from Spain. Do Spanish speaking people have a reaction that this is the equivalent of the Queens English, i.e. elegant, proper?

  4. “There’s alot of people on here who post or lurk that are not longtime New Yorkers.”

    That’s their problem.

“Peoples lives are affected while you shoulder shrug.”

What do you want me to do, bust out crying? That there are corrupt cops in NYC – or in the U.S.A. – is not news, so you can un-bunch your panties.

  5. Mr. B has never really covered BAM. Or the Brooklyn Museum. Or the BBG. I suspect he figures these are big enough institutions and they don’t need free publicity from him. Frankly, I’d rather see him feature the small, local art and music things as he does.

I would figure anyone so worried about Dance Africa is probably on BAM’s mailing list. I’m on all three (BAM, BM, BBG) and a member of the latter two.
