Oh wow, Denton. You speak Spanish too? You, Legion, Lechacal, Kens, (dibs?), probably more. I read somewhere that 80% of all Argentineans have some Italian heritage. Their accents definately have an Italian intonation.
donatella, Castillian is certainly considered the baseline. Colombians speak with what is considered to be the closest to Castillian, and the best enunciated. Altho there are regional differences even btw Bogota and Medellin. Any Spanish from the Caribbean is considered pretty mongrel but of course a lot depends on education. Argentinians not only speak like Italians, they think they ARE Italians, which is a problem. They do have a rich slang tho.
