Earlier today I was in a meeting with a Russian and we were talking about how neither of our countries gives a crap about the world cup. We concluded that soccer is simply not a game for superpowers (I was being very generous by including his motherland in that category). Only little countries really seem interested in the game.
Kind of like how in America children play soccer but not grownups. The same is true for countries.
