cool Dave, let me know the details and what’s the monthly damage in that association or whatever it is. My feeling is that that community charges probably like 500 a month for that lot.
hey legion, merchant ships may or may not have them for bilge water, merchant ships not my area of expertise, my expertise was in oil and chemical tankers. The oily water separators I mentioned work fine, but they were not designed to the capacity that is needed.
Basically, when a tanker unloads its cargo, the cargo tanks need to be cleaned so as to not contaminate the next cargo. They are usually cleaned with a machine generically known as a Butterworth machine (see butterworth.com). The machine takes in ocean water which is heated, and the machine propels the hot salty water around in the tank until the tank is clean.
Obviously, you now have salt water mixed with petroleum product. You’re no longer allowed to just dump it in the ocean, you have to separate the petroleum from the water, you can then send the water back to the ocean and pump out the petroleum in port.
But the oily water separator is designed for the job at hand, some tank cleaning and some bilge work, it is not designed to separate millions of gallons of dirty sea water.
I’ve been out of the marine biz for some time, maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t see how.
” I like Texas too, but people seem to have some preconceived notions about New Yorkers.”
Some VERY NEGATIVE preconceived notions about New Yorkers. They will also ACT like they are being friendly. Smile a lot. And stab you in the back at the earliest opportunity. And then afterwards, continue to smile smile smile at you, as if they are your best friends in the world!
Denton, since you’re around, I need a recommendation for a nice breakfast/lunch place that’s on the water in Lake George area, not too far away from the highway. Know of any?

Other than that, Texas is great.
Ugh I’m bored – Did anyone see Snorah Jones at the Prospect Park Blandshell last night?
Etson, I like Texas too, but people seem to have some preconceived notions about New Yorkers. I like Austin best.
