By the way, I had a busy few days:
1) I am now a Brooklyn resident (p/t). I think Arkady is probably my closest PLUSA neighbor.
2) New building staff is great & neighbors seem friendly. Location is perfect. Apartment needs more work than I had remembered.
3) Target Atlantic Center rocks! So much good cheap stuff & so convenient. Can’t understand why some people knock the place (actually it’s probably because they think it’s cool to knock a chain store, but then shop there all the time secretly)
Morning all. I just lost my temper and went off on gs3 in the Pier 6 Playground thread, who had attacked *rob* and called him an “idiot” for the same things I was saying to people all weekend. Sheesh. >>>
THIS SATURDAY THERE WILL BE A PROTEST AT THE WATER PARK AT PIER 6. SINGLE CHILDLESS DISCRIMINATION MUST BE A THING OF THE PAST! CROTCHFRUITLESS, UNITE!
Yes, I’m sure all of NJ’s high taxes are because of those horrible teacher’s unions and their patronage jobs. Give me a break.
The corruption in NJ is systemic, and everyone who can stick their hand out to get some, does so, certainly to the extent that the unions are just another outstretched hand in a sea of hands.
If Christie really wants to combat that, God bless him and good luck, cuz he’s goint to need it. Corruption is like crack, once you get a taste for it, nothing else matters except making sure the supply keeps coming. That goes for politicians of all parties, union and non-union recipients and everyone else who partakes. It’s going to take more than tough talk to change that.
My parents community’s school system just joined a neighborring one to help with expenses. There is no reason why each community in NJ needs their own board of education.
The weather was crazy donatella – it was raining Saturday morning and then cleared up just in time for the heifer stroll. Then it rained again and cleared up just in time for the after-party.
According to the Christie video, each teacher pays $750 in union dues and if you don’t want to be in the union you have to pay the union 85% of that to opt-out.
The system is corrupt. The taxes are out of control.

The pictures from the heifer stroll are really nice – looks like you had great weather too.

I will be more impressed if/when he tackles the problem of a zillion different municipalities and other taxing authorities in NJ.
