  1. Lechecal, that is a really terrible story. I had my car towed once which was unpleasant and expansive but it was just a matter of figuring out where it was and getting a taxi. Struggling with 3 small kids (one of whom can’t walk) was probably a nightmare.

  2. Benson, when our car was towed it was really unpleasant. Mrs Jackal had taken all of the little jackals to a Doctor’s office on 8th Ave for a really important appointment (maybe an x-ray or something when Jackal #2 broke his foot) and the only parking she could find was a metered spot on Union. She put in either the max she could or more than she thought she would need, and then the Dr ended up seriously behind schedule, it was taking absolutely forever, and then finally they call her in just as the meter is running out. Then finally she gets out hours after she expected, with three super tired and hungry kids on the verge of meltdown and… the fucking car is gone. And then of course there is the $185 towing fee and $115 ticket as an extra kick in the gonads.

  3. I live near 4th Ave, and often park my car on 3rd Ave near 3rd Street (the Con Ed facility). Right now there is construction going on at the Con Ed building, and the scaffolding partly blocks a sign delineating where the bus stop begins. I was partly parked in the bus stop area. One would think that I would know where the bus stop is after 5 years of living there, but I was tired and cranky when I parked it the night before.

  4. I read recently on internet about young guy (I think in midwest) who started some blog about some very aggressive private towing company and they are now suing him.
He claims was legally parked but towing company says his permit was not visible. Sounds like lot of people in community have had same problem..
So some places can be worse than NYC.

  5. The “vision”, that’s what it was like. hahah…

Sorry about your expensive ticket and tow. The most expensive ticket I ever got was for parking in the handicapped section of Lowes – $185.00. That comes with a long (tragi-comic) story. (A friend said he would swear to a judge that I was handicapped. My brother pointed to yet ANOTHER example of my moral turpitude, etc. etc.)
