I often wear dress trousers and a button down shirt to work, unusual for many of my peers even though we amke the same and many make more because they live with roomies or at home or are more senior. A few commented about when they first met me, later telling me about it. A supervisor did too, once. “Does he fit in here? He’s overdressed.” There are some who when they learn they’re working in a depressed neighborhood, break out the faded jeans and Chucks. The customers seem to prefer a well-dressed employee, even though some find it surprising.

  2. Hmm, I see, denton, well, actually, I was thinking that my shopping cart would have helped substantially. Gathering groceries in this neighborhood with a car is my worst nightmare. I went to like 6 or so stores. Would I be driving and parking every 2 blocks between stores? Absurd.

    I have no doubt in my mind that you are constructive in your analysis. However, wouldn’t you agree that some women can be vicious and catty when analyzing another woman’s “togetherness”.
