  1. I don’t think that extension of the budget to keeps some of the Parks dept. open is for the full year. I think actually it was just for the Memorial Day weekend. Presumably there will be a budget soon though but don’t hold your breath.

  2. OK — So, I moved. Yes, I did. Stressful… but successful.

Funny experience this morning. I had my cable installed before work. The technician, Snoop Dogs’s brother I think, was very nice and friendly but he talked really quietly and mumbled. He ran into a snag and had to call the help desk and he continued to mumble… repeated EVERYTHING like 3 times. Finally about 1/2 way through the installation, he decided to speak loudly and with crystal clear annunciation.

Seeing he’s probably been doing this job for years or at least many many months, you would think he would have run into the need to speak clearly at some point before this installation.

Dunno — I just found it funny that he preferred saying everything 3 or 4 times instead of just saying it clearly once.

  3. I love being on tours with just me and partner and tour guide. You’re almost guaranteed this if you go on a weekday, which we do.

“I read it was on the short list to close, due to Albany budget cuts, but the funds were restored for all Parks Dept houses at the last minute, at least for this year.”

YIKES!! I better get there and soon.

We also keep meaning to get to the Barnes Foundation again, before they move it.

  4. ExTex, I went to Hyde Hall by myself about 6 years ago. My Dad lived in Norwich, which is about 30 miles from there. I ended up on a tour with just myself and the guide, and had the best time. She took me all around the huge house, and probably told me more information than most people get, because I was in old house heaven, and asked a million questions. She was probably glad to have someone who was interested in everything on board, and since I grew up in the area, I knew a lot of local history anyway. The place is amazing.

I read it was on the short list to close, due to Albany budget cuts, but the funds were restored for all Parks Dept houses at the last minute, at least for this year. If anyone is in the Cooperstown area, this is a must see.
