11217 dont let it bother you. people like sam and wine lover wouldn’t have the stones to actually say it to anyone’s face. seriously. it’s really easy to say nasty things behind a keyboard, that’s why it’s fruitless to really let it get to you. stick around! if you leave, then im leaving too!
THL, I have friends who sang there often, that’s a shame. There haven’t been that many professional venues around for quite a while. This one will be an important loss. In the line between music school/conservatory graduate and international superstar, there used to be semi-pro, and smaller professional venues where a singer could practice their stagecraft, hone their chops and move up with roles on the resume, so that when you auditioned for the Met, or even for an agent, you had experience. One by one, these organizations are disappearing, and more and more people are struggling to get the few jobs available.
You would think that might separate the wheat from the chaff, talent wise, but that isn’t always the case. Like any form of show biz, it’s not talent that always wins the day, it’s who you know, what you look like, who’s your agent or teacher, what you look like, who you’ll do to get the job, and what you look like. Sometimes a talent is just so great, none of the rest matters, but those people are rare.
11217, thanks, I hope we get to have those conversations someday.
Thank you Bxgrl, BRG and Snark. I promise you this was not an attempt to gain attention. I suppose I shouldn’t be upset about it if Rob isn’t, but it just left a really uneasy feeling. I can give (and take) the harshest of criticism for the most part, but that comment just struck me as hateful.
While I know my writing style and sense of humor seem to come across as extremely arrogant and harsh sometimes, I certainly don’t mean it as such. Posters like Sam and wine lover just bring out the worst in me, and I need to learn how to let it go.
people get over it. i dont find what sam said to be even slightly offensive or hurtful, in fact i just find it funny in like a HA HA yeah you’re right kind of way. let’s just drop it, seriously. 🙂
But first we would milk it for everything its worth- false tears, fake protestations of how we’ll miss you. I’ll ask snark to create a special lifetime achievement award for you. We’ll all get We Love DIBS tramp stamps and hoist a few at Peaches (is that still there?) while BRG watches through slowily dripping tears.

That’s very hurtful, Biff. It seems a large number of the posters are now becoming offensive, rude and disrespectful.
Are you dissrespectin me???
