dibs — I’ve been dubious of ethanol, too. Seems like a lot of energy goes into making it, not a real net footprint reduction. Ethanol from sugar is somewhat better in that regard than ethanol from corn, but not great. Even before ethanol, that corn surplus never seemed to be making it over to where the starvation is, however.
