I think folks can discern the difference between Islam and “Radical Islam”.
Benson, your friend Legion does not seem to be able to make that discernment, and neither can a lot of other people, thus makinging it much harder to come to some kind of understanding.
Legion, dredging up ancient Muslim nations’ conquering of lands thousands of years ago is not relevent. I could just as easily find as many examples of Christian nations conquering in the name of Christ, including in the Middle East, and frankly, just about anywhere else they may have roamed – North and South America, Africa, etc. Even more recent examples of the Taliban destroying the Buddhas only shows that radical Islam is not the same faith practiced by the Muslims who want to open a mosque near Ground Zero. I ask again, are we going to be the same kind of people that radical Islamists like the Taliban are? Unable to tolerate anyone whose faith is different than our own practicing that faith were they choose? I certainly hope not.
We have encountered at least as many dangerous, anti-U.S. AMERICANS (Eric Rudolph, Tim McVeigh)as we have Americans of Arabic descent in this country. All are dangerous and need to be tracked down and prosecuted. Most use religion and/or social beliefs to justify their actions. But in the end they’re all just killers.
tybur6 didn’t like the “historical”
references so allow me to post some
more recent examples of islamist intolerance;

Oy, the problems that religion causes…
snappy,
let me turn the debate around,
why aren’t we busy
building Chruches and Temples in
Afghanistan and Iraq?
…hell, a woman journalist can’t even
walk around those places without a
head covering.
why?

The Blueprint 3 dropped on 9/11 this year. Is Jay-Z a radical muslim too?
No – but sorta classless!
I had a friend pick 9/11 as her wedding date to save money

“What about the Jews in Judea?”
Is Judea near Miami Beach?
Smooches to DH (12:56) and ENY (12:57).
Not sure it rises to the level of a PSA, but *rob* also has no A/C in his office now.
