The agreement would allow taxpayers to deduct the sales tax paid on new car purchases, but not the interest on loans for the same vehicles.”

Jean Chatzsky (sp.?) on the Today show recommended doing this so for shiggles I tried it and it worked!!

I just called my cable company (Comcast- remember I’m in NJ) and asked them if there was any way I could get a reduction in rate due to the fact that we were having serious financial issues and were looking at the possibility of having to cancel a portion if not all of our services (we do cable, phone and internet). She asked if we wanted to reduce our services (get rid of premium channels) and I said I was hoping that you could extend the “new customer” triple play rates to us. She said sure and was shockingly pleasent about it saying that they had a lot of people in the same boat. So I’m going to save 57 bucks a month for the next 6 months. She said if our circumstance don’t change in 6 months to call back as they always have new promotions.

Who would have thunk it??
