ET- my mother was very handy with tools (I am going to be so sorry I wrote that, I know) while my father….pffft. I still have the little bookcase she made for my sister and I. My father once tried to make scrambled eggs by taking the egg and slamming down on the countertop to break the shell. You can imagine the rest. I don’t have many tools but that’s because I can go downstairs and “borrow” the Great Evll’s (who could stock a machine shop).
So can you amend your Jewish restriction to “Jewish men”? And if you see my ehubby, there’s a nice craftsman work table I need…:)
Yes, let us CHOP down the trees, let us clear-cut beautiful, majestic old forests, home to thousands of animals and insects vital to all creatures, in the name of saving the environment. Because it is the TREES, not people, who emit CO2 in alarming, globe changing quantities.
Of course trees emit carbon. And of course when they die and rot, much of that carbon returns to the environment. But it is the NET gain that is important here. The carbon absorbed into these trees might remain sequestered for centuries, certainly giving us the necessary time to reduce our emissions.
And what on earth is the proposal here? To create massive landfills to store all of these chopped down trees? To dump them in the ocean? Come on. We already know we can’t possibly balance our emissions by planting enough trees, but we do know that trees are our friends. And that forests can be giant carbon capture points. We want to provide fuel to the argument that cutting down trees, that deforestation is a GOOD thing?
ET – I don’t like any of those sets – they tend to have a lot of stuff you won’t need &, for instance hammers, don’t have some basics. They also tend to be poor quality. The round things are “sockets” & they fit on a driver for doing/undoing specific-sized nuts. You can buy a socket set if there’s a lot of that kind of thing but it certainly isn’t a basic need.
You’re better off going to Sears, picking a box & filling it w/ a selection of tools.
“Wasn’t there a time when DIBS and What were friends recently?”
It’s basically a Sam Sheepdog & Ralph Wolf relationship. Over here is when they’re punched into work. Over there, they’re like bosom buddies enjoying a cold one on the beach.
