Lawrence Taylor arrested in connection with rape, beating of girl

Lawrence Taylor, the NFL Hall of Famer known in celeb circles for his “Dancing With the Stars” stint, was arrested overnight in connection with the alleged rape and beating of a 15-year-old runaway just outside of New York, police said Thursday morning.

The Journal News in Hudson Valley, N.Y., reports that the former linebacker was being held in the Ramapo, N.Y., lockup on suspicion of third-degree rape. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, and police plan to hold a news conference in connection with the case that afternoon as well. The charge of third-degree rape involves having sex with a minor.

Taylor was taken into custody at a Holiday Inn in Rockland, N.Y. The victim “was a runaway since March, and there was a pimp involved,” a Ramapo Police Department supervisor told the Journal News, which has more details about the arrest. “She got punched in the face. We’re not sure who did it.”

For the man known as LT, the arrest comes as a body blow to an image that until recent years was about as battered as the brain of family man Luther “Shark” Lavay, Taylor’s character in Oliver Stone’s “Any Given Sunday.”

  2. Wow, equities are really taking it in the pooper today.

No worries though, if things get really bad the Fed can just lower rates. Oh shit, hold on a second, rates are already bascially at zero.

I have no informed view whatsoever on what will happen to the equity markets after today. I suppose I can sit down and think about it for a while. Shit I should probably do that. I basically got out of the market in October and have been “long USD” since then.

I t moves on psychology of quantitative easing, inflation expectations, currency movements and general expectations or lack thereof for global contagion. Nine out of ten times, the price and direction of gold has nothing to do with the supply/demand forces.

I agree. Although physical demand for gold now (bullion, coins) is now tremendous and limiting supply, the demand is due to the above reasons, not heightened jewelry demand or mining issues — right now it is exacerbated by the European mess and desire to hedge portfolios. The IMF was selling its gold inventories to raise money and Central Banks buying to hedge currency exposures.

Hmmmm….What have I done to deserve that? I actually really like reading Clinton Hill Chill. What is the crime in that? And I agreed with some of what he had to say on the subject and felt it was worth bringing up. Not sure why you are on my ass like that. I have lived almost 10 years in Clinton Hill now and I think that it actually is a pretty successfully integrated neighborhood on every level. Forgive me for being positive but I enjoy where I live.

  5. Lechacal my hunch is that it tests the previous highs and starts to drop… That is just a hunch though.. I want to see lower gold, stronger dollar, and a stronger Stock market… I am hoping that both our bond market and stock market become a safe haven for euro countries…

We will see though.. That Euro trade has performed nicely.. 125 is the next level…

  7. “BKNesto hanging out in the OT? Wow. How are you? I am glad to see Clinton Hill Chill back up and running. Thought provoking post about “amenities” and how they are perceived by older and newer residents. I think there has to be a balance between understanding the long-time nature and vibe of a community like Clinton Hill and providing newer residents with some of the things that they might want. Despite everyone’s online agita, I think Clinton Hill has been a fairly positive example of how to integrate new people into a close knit community.”
