“should i apply just for the hell of it!?”
Yes, *rob*, you should apply. I just posted that the building facade is looking very nice. I would answer all the questions honestly, but you may not want to disclose your gem, coin, and stamp collections. Do they allow dogs?
“Racial comments are insensitive and wrong. But they won’t kill anyone. Trying to cut each other off with cars could definitely lead to someone being hurt, perhaps killed. Tybur6 could have ignored her stupid initial action and gone about his way, but by his own admission he escalated the incident. That wasn’t the most rational decision. The other driver was also acting irrationally. To expect a person acting irrationally to refrain from using racial epithets, or any other means to “hurt” their “adversary” is…well, silly at best. ”
ENY;
I agree with what you state 1000%. Well said. It is exactly for this reason that I object to some of these so-called “hate crimes”, in which a person gets extra time put on their sentence if they utter a racial epithet while committing a felony.
You do not have to accept or reject What’s overarching thesis that we are quickly returning to the NYC of the 70s to accept his very sane and wise advice (no irony) that NYC is not the place to escalate a road rage battle. And especially not that part of Flatbush Ave. There are just certain roads in Brooklyn where the normal rules don’t apply, and that is not limited to one hood or one subculture.
Someone drives like that, I just chill and stay the @#$% away from that car. Driver already showed a severe lack of judgment coupled with heightened aggression. It’s like walking into the middle of a domestic violence situation. Too unstable. Don’t do it, and don’t escalate it. Like too many trats in the maze, there are always going to be a few ready to explode over nothing, even in the best of economic times.
In fact, someone did try to run me down as I was crossing (by foot) Washington Ave near Lincoln yesterday. I was about 1/4 across, and some jerk in an SUV just floored it into the intersection and drove right at me. I had to run for cover. Tempted as I was, I didn’t flip the bird. Sometimes you just have to breathe and take stock.
It is all the fault of the bicyclists. They had this big 5 boro bike ride yesterday and caused traffic problems everywhere. Everyone’s nerves were frayed.
Bullshit ENY. No way is tyburg supposed to let someone cut him off like a fucking asshole and just take it. This woman sounds like an insane racist bitch. Backing down from people like this is 100% optional.
Goat Boy, I like The Bike Shop on lower Court Street (around 4th Place or Nelson), though that may not be as convenient for you. They just did a great overhaul of my bike for the season — quick, responsive, attentive, reasonably priced. Two hooves up.
So can anyone tell me why there are so many people bicycling at night in black clothing with absolutely no reflectors on the bike or their clothing. The bus nearly hit 2 of them. And there was a group down Dean St.- none of them in light colored clothing or with reflectors. Is that not the definition of stupid?
i actually qualify for those affordable studios and one bedrooms in the columbia hicks apartments. im sure this like over a year or so away before even moving in, should i apply just for the hell of it!? studios for 873 a month and one bedrooms for 1097.
i downloaded the application and they ask some weird questions and they also make you say how much money you have in the bank. i cant write 23 cents on the form can i? they also ask for reasons WHY you are moving, and some of the things to check off are abusive relationship (lol), mental illness, etc etc. im wondering if those people who fall into those categories get special treatment? id imagine they do.. they also have a section where you are to mark off your ethnicity and race, but it says its optional. would it be bad to leave that out?
omg and they actually ask on the application if you have gem or coin collections :-/
so road rage is an acceptable excuse to make racist comments to someone?
Racial comments are insensitive and wrong. But they won’t kill anyone. Trying to cut each other off with cars could definitely lead to someone being hurt, perhaps killed. Too much heat and too much traffic this weekend.
