Word up snappy. If you want to be a lawyer you get hazed as a 1L. It’s not a physical beat down because lawyers don’t deal with physical danger. It’s a mental beat down. Doctors go through something similar. If you want to stand shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of guys and walk into a situation where you all could die if you fuck it up you had better be willing to get tested first.
While I’d hope that there were other ways to weed out pansies and candy asses other than kicking ass and taking names, I can certainly appreciate the fact that finding out up front who can’t take a thwack on the back of the neck is better than finding out the person is a candy ass in the midst of battle.
Not saying peace corps isn’t tough…. but it’s not a cohesive unit facing constant physical danger in the way that a SEAL team or a bunch of roughnecks or firefighters are. The amount of higher thinking that goes into those jobs is very low and the amount of total group cohesion has to be extremely high. If you’ve never been in one of those groups it will be tough for you to understand. Particularly for New Yorkers, who tend to be much further removed from how this sort of thing works than the rest of the country.

Then go and check your privacy settings, it’s a mess. You’ll have to check them all, including apps. The MFs have been doing all sorts of creepy stuff lately.
Lesbiman, heard very good things about that Russian restaurant but it’s overpriced in my opinion. You can get just as good or better Russian food in Midwood/Brighton Beach area for 1/3 the price.
