  1. “Raise your hand if you believe in benevolent dictatorship checked by the possibility of violent revolution rather than this tedious and inefficient democracy.”

Our own democracy is also supposed to be checked by violent revolution, hence the Second Amendment.

    Abe Lincoln said:
“This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing Government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it.”

  2. “dickhead, douche, idiot. Any other terms of endearment want to throw out this morning?”

Not paying attention to you Pete. Too busy listening to Collins completely fail to understand a single thing she is talking about.

  3. DII is a chintzy discount store…one on 5th Ave and 9th Street, another on 5th Ave in the 50’s in Sunset Park, and another down in Bay Ridge. Used to be called Dee & Dee. I think there is also still one somewhere on 14th street in that borough whose name shall not be spoken. Like between 7th and Union Sq. somewhere.

  4. “We get Port from Portugal”

And Port and gals! Wonderful combination.

“And almost all of the corks in the world”

Then what the hell are we getting from County Cork, Ireland?

  5. pete and arkady,

I have what you might call a personal crusade with trees in my neighborhood,
When I’m out walking legiondog I will take the time to prune away all the new shoots growing off of the younger trees because I know nobody else will do it.
The shoots tend to zap the energy from the growing tree.
I’m also a member of the American Chestnut foundation.
