Traif: In a neighborhood where tensions between hipsters and Hasids flare over bike lanes and fashion, Jason Marcus has some brass balls opening up a restaurant dedicated to seafood and pork. He’s got balls of an entirely different type of metal for naming it “Traif,” the Yiddish term for all things non-Kosher. They even opened this past April 13th, which is a sacred number in Judaism. Marcus doesn’t seem too worried. “I am Jewish, although obviously not great at it. So, Traif is a restaurant that celebrates the foods that I love most, which just so happens to be the foods that I am not supposed to eat,”

  2. There are a lot of successful short-term bike rental companies around the world… like Bixi in Montreal. The funny part of the whole system are the big trucks that redistribute the bikes during the day. They get bunched up during commutes and so on.

I have rolls of bread in my midsection – the soft-baked kind. I counted 4 rolls

Ah, M4L, there is a price for all those wonderful lunches and snacks your wife packs for you….

  4. “Biff, that’s interesting. But I can see some jackass not wearing a helmet, getting hurt and suing the company and then they’re out of business.”

yes – bc that happens alot with zipcars and other car rental companies.

  5. Biff, re bike rental, it solves the problem of where to PUT THE BIKE. I got my bike stolen because I got tired of it in the hallway and put it outside (and of course used a flimsy chain). What DIBS says about helmits and I somehow imagine a lot of these things getting stolen too.
