  1. Another Democratic spending rant….

House Republicans Increase Pressure to Ban ‘Earmarked’ Projects

April 22 (Bloomberg) — House Republicans are intensifying pressure on Democrats to sign onto a one-year ban on funding special home-district projects, part of an election-year effort to outshine the majority party on the issue of fiscal restraint.
Republican leaders have drafted a resolution that states that both parties embrace the ban, agreed to last month by Republicans. It also would set aside an amount equal to the funds appropriated last fiscal year for such “earmarked”
projects and plow that amount into reducing the federal budget deficit.
House Democratic leaders have refused to sign onto such a pledge, arguing that it gives executive branch officials too much power over spending and ignores the expertise of lawmakers who know the needs of their districts. A split has emerged in the party on the issue, with House Democrats supporting a ban on earmarks requested by private companies, and Senate Democrats rejecting any type of ban.
“Democrats and their spending spree continue,” House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio said today at a press conference on the resolution. “They’re not listening to the American people, who are demanding fiscal sanity and demanding real change.”

  2. “I posted about putting me down for a check on the “Delaney” card? ;)”

Might have helped if I knew what the hell you were talking about, Legion! Having Googled “Delaney card”, yes, I recognize receiving them (still have mine) but never knew their name.

Christie Shuts Toilets on Free New Jersey Roads to Save Money

April 22 (Bloomberg) — New Jersey Governor Chris Christie wants to shut the last two rest-stop bathrooms on non-toll roads in the most densely populated U.S. state after this year to save $270,000.
The bathrooms scheduled to close under Christie’s plan are on Interstate 80 at the Pennsylvania border and Interstate 295 at the Delaware border. Parking areas at the rest areas will remain open for truckers under Christie’s plan, Simpson said.
The closings will eliminate 18 maintenance positions, according to the department’s written response to questions from the nonpartisan Office of Legislative Services.

18 maintenance positions for 2 bathrooms!!!!! WTF??????
