Benson — I have *experienced* Rapid Realty…. and my experience was that they were exceedingly unethical, badly organized, always late to appointments, employed dirty bait-and-switch techniques, and on and on. I tried them out (with NO success… not even close) when I first moved here looking for a 2-bed share and then I even gave them another shot a couple years ago when I started looking for a place on my own.
Maybe it’s the luck of the draw or whatever…. but as an organization, they are not promoting ethical, business-like behavior as far as I can tell.
DH – I do love Central Park, the museums, biking around on the weekends looking at people, and a *couple* of the restaurants…. but generally speaking, Manhattan is for fancy pants folks that can afford it and have a high tolerance for seething humanity. That ain’t me.
Currently I have to go to that other island two evenings per week…. I’m looking forward to that ending soon (not to mention my heart will appreciate me not frequenting the Shake Shack).
Cgar:
Got your e-mail invite and replied – received “delivery failed” message saying “unknown or illegal alias” – are we finally learning the truth about Cgar? Anyway, I’m planning on being there (with a very old Toshiba laptop power cord for Rob).
I vote for: Stimulate a PLUSA today – very clever, jester
Blowfish:
Here is a resource I use a lot. This will work if you know where the property is but just don’t know the address or block/lot. I keep this open all day and am always looking stuff up on: http://gis.nyc.gov/doitt/nycitymap/
put in any address (preferably near the property your interested in), click on the hand and move the map so that you see the property, then click on the “i” and click on the property. Info including address and block and lot come up so you can use that for searches on acris, etc.

“Currently I have to go to that other island two evenings per week”
Is Brooklyn considered an island?
The hotel looks pretty cool. It’s an old cork factory.
Are you trying to tell us something…..

“So I just booked a memorial weekend mini getaway to Amish country and to see Longwood gardens.”
Careful Kens, those Amish folks may put your goat to work.
Biff, speaking of synagogue names, did you worship at Temple Emanuelle in your youth?
P.S. Didn’t we do all these jokes two years ago? Or is it nostalgia week, in honor of ROTW’s return.
P.P.S. Good thing we don’t believe in hell, right? Or do we.
P.P.P.S. Shouldn’t his moniker now be return of return of the what? ROROTW?
