Once some young black kids called me Cracker. I turned around and told them I was old enough to be their father so it’s “Mr. Cracker to you.” They lookd like they had seen a ghost (or a crazy person) and ran away.
Biff, ignore what the other parents do, and introduce yourself as “Biff” and tell them to call you “Biff” when they call you “Mr. Champion”, and if the parents correct them, tell the parents that’s what you prefer.
As a kid, certain of my parents’ friends preferred first name basis so that’s what we called them. As adults, when other of my parents’ friends told us to call them by their first names, we couldn’t (can’t) do it because of a lifetimme calling them “Mr.” and “Mrs.” So now we call them nothing at all!
I was always taught that you have to stick a Ms/Mrs/Miss/Mr in front of whatever you were told to call the adult. The adult chose whether you called them Biff or Mr. Champion, but if they say “Call me Biff” you change that to Mr. Biff. Old school respect thing. We had an elderly neighbor named Hazel. She used to threaten to kick your ass with her cane if you just called her “Hazel.” She once told the kids, “For all I care you can call me cousin Hazel or even uncle Hazel, but I’ll be damned if your little ass is gonna just call me Hazel. You ain’t grown, dammit!”
Maybe Goldman stock will end up on the dollar menu.
I bought Citigroup when it was close to being on the dollar menu, watched it go down (and I cried) and then sold it I think at 6X what I bought it at.
HA! and you all thought I was an idiot when it comes to investing. Okay, I am an idiot and that was just a fluke. I don’t know what possessed me to do that, Never did anything like that before and I probably never will again.

Donatella- perhaps they were miffed at the less than polite treatment they got? I mean, when a squirrel offers to help you redecorate, shouldn’t you have expressed a bit more gratitude? 🙂
