  1. “But why the fuck is the city not tapping into this HUGE potential revenue stream!? Be it moving violations or double-parking… it could pay for a huge chunk of the NYPD’s budget.”

because traffic cops are the biggest waste of space on earth

I’ve WITNESSED a traffic cop write out a ticket to a UPS truck (who supposedly pays the city a set fee for all parking tickets issued) – while there was a cab blocking the box 15 feet away causing gridlock. they just looked, and got back in their car and drove away.

  2. Well, a lot of the bad driving is because, unlike you and I who have been driving since we were 16, a lot of the drivers in NYC (especially the taxis and folks from bay ridge) are immigrants who, as is illustrated here among PLUSAs, were hearding goats somewhere until well into their 30s. They come over here, get a license (or not) and start driving. They have no ability to anticipate traffic in front of them beyond the car right in front of them, don’t signal and apply the brake at illogical inervals.

  3. Oh – and Petebklyn – I didn’t see it. But since I try to avoid Billyburg, that bridge might as well not exist. 🙂

That being said, I’m sure I would defend the rights of bicycles on the bridge – no doubt. (without reading the link, so i’m forgiven for anything crazy I may have implied with my support!)

  4. DIBS — While I can’t agree with you about the bike issue, I can DEFINITELY agree with you about Traffic Enforcement in this town… or the fact that there is NONE. Let’s put aside the fact that the way people drive is aggressive, without skill, and creates an amazingly dangerous environment for EVERYONE (pedestrians, bikes, other drivers!)

  5. yum! just got back from a trip to economy candy on the lower east side. i LOVE that store. bought a big bag of sour gummy worms.

ugh but i dont miss the lower east side. some string bean femmey a-hole totally walked passed me in a huff and nearly knocked me over with his giant purse! grrr

    *rob*

  6. If speeding cars is such a big problem on Prospect park then why isn’t the NYPD there issuing tickets??? Seems like a good revenue source. Marty’s right, there’s been enough kowtowing to the bikes. Enough.

And I don’t bike or drive in NYC.
