  1. “CGar, thanks for all your help (via email) too.”

No prob, Biff. Just a little confusing (and you know I’m easily confused) to carry on email conversations from 2 accounts and an OT discussion simultaneously.

  2. Good point, Lechacal. I don’t know if the parents are also up in arms about the violence aspect, perhaps the word argument just took over. I’m not sure. But yes, I would think the violence issue would be a top concern with parents as well.

When I first saw this clip, I immediately recalled (fuzzily of course) an old movie with Kevin Bacon (I think) where he is in a dark room and there’s a little black girl cursing at him, using every name under the sun. What movie was that?

  3. “It’s like how kids can see violent fight scenes all day long but the second you see a little bit of janet jackson’s nip it’s the end of the goddamn world.”

I completely agree. Clearly the message we’re sending is that nudity is bad for kids to see but murder is ok. Applies even more to video games even than movies and TV, I think.

  4. “I have a co-worker who always seems to get lipstick on her teeth. What’s a tactful way to point this out?”

    Instruct the co-worker thusly:

“please refrain from turning your lips inside out to apply the lipstick.”

  5. Wow, Snappy. The trailer I’ve been seeing on TV makes this movie look so PG, like Spy Kids or something. This is a whole other kind of movie. I can see why parents would be upset, although I’m more disturbed by the violence than by the language. Unfortunately, most kids have heard both of those words by the time they are 13, although I don’t think that makes it acceptable to use in a movie with kids. The Angelina Jolie/Mila Jovovitch style vidio game killer chick thing has a certain appeal to adults, for various reasons, but on a kid who doesn’t even need a training bra, it’s really too much. I don’t think kids need to be emulating another kid who can reload in slomo.

I remember when one of the Robocop movies in the 90’s had a really foul mouthed child villian in it and people got all upset, but the world continued to spin. I don’t think banning and boycotting movies works. It just makes people, including kids, want to see it more. If parents were truly united in a protest, the best thing to do is not go, steer your kids elsewhere, and when the movie makes no profit, the studios will be less inclined to make another one.

  6. OK, so the calls a guy a cunt and then shoots him. I actually think it’s seriously twisted that people are all freaked out about a girl calling someone a cunt (oh noes!!!!) and aren’t making a big stink about the fact that she is BLOWING PEOPLE AWAY ONE AFTER ANOTHER IN GRAPHICALLY BLOODY SCENES.

It’s like how kids can see violent fight scenes all day long but the second you see a little bit of janet jackson’s nip it’s the end of the goddamn world.

  7. “C-Gar – So the boobies and kittens video basically had nothing for you then?”

Not at all, lechacal, I can still appreciate boobies and pussies. (‘specially those who post in the OT)
