    Tybur6’s Fun Fact of the Day
    ******************
    On average from April through October of last year (7 months), over 8700 people commuted DAILY to Manhattan by bicycle over the three bridges connecting that God-forsaken island to Brooklyn.

    High = 10,267 in August
    Low = 6,615 in April

    Assuming 20 commuting days per month… this works out to be 1.23 MILLION trips by bicycle. And this is just these three bridges… The Queensboro bridge adds another 2,200+ per day. This also doesn’t count all of the intra-borough commuting or other travel by bicycle.

    Bicycle commuting saw a 26% increase in 2009 compared to the previous year — a 210% increase in the last five years!!
