They need to add that question to the Census,
we’d get alot more for our money and we’d
be alot closer to an understanding of the state
of our politics.
lechacal, that’s an interesting ranking, and it seems to imply that most conservatives are nice people, and most liberals are not. I tend to think that it would depend more on the person than the ideology.
Then again most New York City conservatives would be considered pretty liberal in many parts of the country.

I used my words carefully – my conservative friends have little in common with the kinds of conservatives I came across in my recent cross-country trip. And “no shortage” means just that and nothing more.
In my experience, people in the ideological minority in any particular group are more likely to be 1/3/5s. One might expect members of the majority to be more magnanimous and understanding of difference, as they already enjoy the advantage of numbers, but in reality the weaker members of the herd invariable join the majority and they are the ones most susceptible to the herd mentality of attacking those who are different. Those with the strength to stand alone or in the minority, on the other hand, also tend to have the intellectual strength to separate ideas from those who hold them. To be more concrete, a conservative in Park Slope or a liberal in Wyoming is more likely to be a 1/3/5 than a liberal in Park Slope or a conservative in Wyoming.
ET, I did read, but I stooped down to insult you before I was fully caught up. And I’d do it all over again.
“All pets are not all that much fun, except turtles and bunnies.”

We had a cat that was similar to a dog…following you all around the house and would “sit” and “shake” on command.
