  2. Schools exist to educate children, not to provide an entitlement to members of a politically-powerful union.

SO WELL SAID, benson. This is the problem with most everything run by unions…..

The MTA is concerned primarily with the employees, then the trains and lastly the passengers. they think they are in the business of running trains. They are not. they are in the business of transporting passengers. the trains are incidental. Until they understand that, the system will continue to be pathetic. Same goes with Amtrak, etc.

These organizations, companies, businesses all seem to be run for the benefit of the employees firstly.

  3. yes. charter schools are basically the epitome of the phrase lipstick on a pig. that and fudged grade performance. they do however, i feel, give students a bit more pride in their education.

  4. My brother in law is a teacher at one of the specialized NYC public high Schools. It’s a good school with a good rep but he tells me they now have 9 Assistant Principals to answer to. And they aren’t a charter school. It’s the new system of management the BoE has set in place.
