  1. brokedeveloper,
lol, yeah, I wonder if the Indigo Girls were spanked as kids?

    *rob*
I have read of x-men like children out there which scientist’s attribute to actual gene mutations. evolution as a whole is driven by a beneficial gene mutation with a period of isolation or population destruction.
There’s a kid in Germany for instance with a muscle gene mutation which gives him muscular strength and mass beyond normal and without apparent detriment. I’ve also read about a child in Russia who is said to have the ability to “sense” objects through walls, almost like an x-ray ability. no joke.
so if the rest of us get eradicated by an asteroid, and these two children are left, we will perhaps have a new species.

  2. yeah it definitely taps into that ridiculous notion that every child is special (i mean yeah i guess in a way they are..) but when every single parent in nyc claims their 2 year olds belong in the gifted program in pre-pre-pre K, something’s wrong.

unless all these kids ARE uber genius’… in that case we all better be worried!!

    *rob*

  3. rob- whoa! I never heard of Indigo children- although a friend and his wife and son definitely seem to fit the profile. Except for the extrasensory/spiritual stuff- but the entitlement, the idea your child is brilliant beyond the rest of humanity, etc. They got it all 🙁

  4. Okay, I started reading the ‘Indigo Children’

“Beliefs about Indigo Children range from their being the next stage in human evolution, possessing paranormal abilities such as telepathy”

    Um, poltergeist anyone!

“and lacking communication skills to the belief that they are simply more empathetic and creative than their non-Indigo peers.”

    Um, aren’t they called loners?!?!?

“the phenomenon is due to parents preferring to believe that their children are special, rather than having a psychiatric diagnosis which implies damage or imperfection.”

This is where I stopped reading. Crock of Bull$hit.
Parents need a rude wake up call. Stop trying to sugar coat your child’s imperfections, handicaps, short comings and deal with the situations without fancying it up.

Maybe a child isn’t the A$$hole, but the parents are.
