Yeah. The main thing is, her rent in Park Slope with three roommates was $750. It supposedly included a painting studio. She belonged to the Park Slope food coop to cut down on food expenses, and of course she didn’t go out to eat. Her main other expense was her Metro card.
I thought her meal strategy was interesting. And I plan to adopt it. Reading between the lines, it appears she cooked up a lot of rice and beans on Sunday, then added little bits of vegs and meat through the week.
I have NEVER succeeded in bringing my lunch to work, but I think I could do it with this method since it involves no extra cooking and everything goes into one container for easy transportation.
The coop is a nice touch. From what I hear, prices there are a third of any other grocery store and the quality is as good or better than than anything else in NYC.
“Did anyone see the Wall Street Journal article yesterday about the girl who lived in Park Slope and saved $6,000 in one year while working in the publishing industry and being paid less than $30,000 a year? (Without daddy’s help.)

Hi mopar.
Good for this girl – if she keeps it up for another 20 years she’ll have enough for a deposit on an apartment.
I was an unintended newbie last night. I was setting up the art show for the opening tonight, when Julie, the owner of the Exit told us we had to be done by 6 because of a function. Mitch the first bartender of the night then said it was a Brownstoner gig. I log on everyday, and sometimes comment on the mundaner things like restaurants and facts about Cobble Hill (born and raised). But never ventured out to a gathering. It was nice to meet Denton and Dave (who apologized in advance if he had ever said anything disparaging to me in the past). I have to say, I didn’t expect so many people to be dressed up a la suits/ dress shirts, I felt underdressed. Everyone seemed nice enough tho-
Where is Rob? Has he signed on yet?
My roommates have his tarot cards.
Of course the main takeaway is that girls under 30 don’t have the expense of gyms or dying their hair.

“It turns out that the cliché that comics are angry, bitter people deep down is true.”
(Great Times article today on the Leno-O’Brien feud)
Sorry I missed most of you last night(and cobble’s cookies), though I do have one question:
What was with all the pornographic ghost pictures?
lifer and l4w, thanks for your sincere words.

That is quite interesting. She did some dumpster diving it says, as well.
