In fairness to that woman: I live right near 4th Ave, and I know why this happens. The lights (at least near 3rd St. and 4th Ave) do not allow one enough time to cross the Ave. I’m a pretty fast walker, and even I have trouble getting across 4th Ave in the time alloted. So I and many others do it in two steps. First, cross to the meridian, ahead of the light. Then, when the light changes, complete the journey.

I think he needs to get out there better, not more. Opposition has done a far better job shaping the news cycle and managing public impressions of news events than administration has. Obama’s team is just not aggressive enough in that area.
jester — you are right, which is why I posted above that candidates matter. The election certainly has national policy and strategic implications but it was also about the candidates. She was truly awful.

I can’t tell you how many times I walk down a sidewalk and I come across a stroller with both parents and they expect me to walk around them on the street. It’s so effing annoying.
