  1. I tried the patch once when I was in the hospital and therefore couldn’t smoke. I found out the hard way that I am allergic to the adhesive on it. SEVERELY ALLERGIC. My entire arm down to my fingers turned purple (a major feat for a dark black woman!) and swelled up to the point that the nurse thought it would burst open. It took a few shots to get my arm back down to size, but I still have a square scar on my arm from where the patch was at. When I’ve called 311 to get the gum, they keep telling me I don’t have a choice as to which one they will send me. All I can do is answer the questions and then wait to see what comes in the mail. For two years straight they sent me patches even after I told them I was allergic to it. They say there is no place to record on the computer form that I’m allergic so I asked the girl to list my last name as “AllergicToTheAdhesiveInThePatch”! She refused 🙁

My dad got so many types of cancer we stopped taking notice (he’s still around by the way). He smoked for years. Cancer is huge in my family, but that hasn’t really stopped me. I don’t even really want to quit right now. The only reason I’ve stopped smoking right now is because of the price. I’m unemployed and quickly running out of dough. Something had to give and I’ll be damned if it’s my internet service or satellite tv!

  2. ooooooh snappy i was thinking about quitting smoking. especially after finding out my mom died of lung cancer at 50! i saw an ad from 311 that they are still offering free patches… they did a few years ago and i took the program offer and got two boxes of them.. i would wear them at night but still sneak smoke during the day. the patches were insaaaaaaaaaaaaane. they gave the most vivid dreams you will EVER have. it was like living a whole ‘nother life while you sleep. i was using them like that just to have crazy dreams for so long i think i was making myself sick lol cuz i was all edgy and freakytown during the day.

lots of people suggest chantix (the prescription drug to quit) and apparently those give you crazy vivid dreams too for most people.. if i do that tho im going to make sure NOT to smoke while im on it. it’s tough tho even tho i know i should quit for health reasons, and i can barely afford it, i still want to smoke 🙁 what exactly will it take for someone like me to quit? my grandfather and mom died of lung cancer my grandmother has emphaseama (sp?) and still smokes, etc. grr maybe a hypnotist?
