  1. “i think we should only keep our borders open to people from other countries who have advanced degrees that we do not have many of”

There was a time in our history where this was our immigration policy. It is now referred to as “the brain drain.” Seriously!

  2. well i didnt want to say what snappy actually DID say earlier because i thought i would have been trounced harder, but i find it kind of annoying that the US basically is EXPECTED to be a giver a global welfare. why can’t countries just figure out how to handle their own affairs? i wish we’d just butt the hell out of every other countries affairs on this planet. if that means no oil, who cares. if it means more countries dont like us, who cares. no other countries are giving global welfare to the homeless on our streets are they? and yeah katrina IS a good example of that actually. did other countries help with katrina? no. we couldnt even handle it right for the most part. that said 100K is a lot of people lost, but natural disasters such as this happen for a reason. and yes, if it happened here in the US id say it has happened for a reason too. but i wouldnt hold my breath if anything happened here that people would be running to our rescue.

i think we should only keep our borders open to people from other countries who have advanced degrees that we do not have many of, people who are 100 percent healthy, and no dependents under 18.

people should totally be allowed to donate as much money to whatever cause they want tho, and of course this is a good cause just because of the devastation, but the issues go so much deeper and because of that this country is really one giant cesspool minus a few pockets here and there and will just continue to get worse if we dont take care of our own domestic problems.

  3. “Which exam is this?? And why do they take part 2 before part 1?
Only thing that was required when I was in the old country was a certificate called the IMC, which was held to prove that one was ‘threshold competent’!! But everyone had to have that, analysts as well.

It is the IMC. You can do it in whatever order you want (or do them both together). I’ve never needed it before but I do if I want to be the fund manager (eventually).

“Chicken – How do you think you did?

Don’t want to jinx it but I think I did okay. Had enough time to go through the whole thing again and do a harsh mark (ie anything I wasn’t 100% sure of got marked down) and still left half an hour early. It’s not graded – just pass/fail.

  4. How about all the old contacts and people in our emails? In the Internet age it is very easy to have friends who never meet or know they are friends with the same person. I have these old friends form previous email accounts, plus many ones from my current one – if I got run over by a bus I suppose my twin brother would have to page through and email them all. You’d be surprised what mix of people choose or not choose to attend someone’s funeral.
