  1. Legion,

Is the doc about Kenny Shopsin? He used to be in the West Village. Quite a place, quite a menu, great chow, but you’d better know all the “rules” before you go. Calvin Trillin wrote a great piece about him once.

  2. blowfish, did you get a babysitter for the 21st??? Else your husband will have to skip class that night. Don’t know if you saw it yesterday, but we’re going to Last Exit on the south side of Atlantic, between Clinton and Henry, in Cobble Hill. If it sucks, we’ll head across the street to Floyd, on the north side of Atlantic, between Clinton and Henry, in Brooklyn Heights.

  3. Anyone seen Snappy??? She was playing Pauly the DJ in the OT until the wee hours of the morning, but this is sleeping late even for her.

Perhaps if I strategically place this plate of fresh, hot, crispy bacon on her desk . . .

  4. dibs,
thanks for the interesting article of the nuclear bomb survivor.

I think it was Einstein who said:

“I don’t know how World War III will start,
but WWIV will be fought with sticks and stones.”

  5. (Sorry, Cobble, I couldn’t resist, though I did make myself laugh!)

“been there for like 40 years and lets nobody tell him what to do. he kicks people out, yells at customers and is generally a singular character who people travel to see.”

Sounds just like my grandfather, Legion. People would come in for custom work, and if he didn’t feel like doing it, he’d chase the potential customer out. Funny thing is, my great aunt (his sister-in-law) owned most of the company, but he ran it, acted like he owned it, and let everyone think he owned it!

One of the company’s divisions manufactured canvas goods. If you’ve seen people on the subways or walking around with duffle bags or tote bags with the logos and names of any of the major TARP recipients, chances are his company manufactured them.
