DIBS
same here, slide rules until second year college, then I bought myself a texas instruments electronic handheld calculator that could do square roots and trig formulas. Unbelievable! It was quite the trophy. Personal computers and telephones you could carry around with you were still years in the future.
Does that make us OLD??????
As an engineer and computer person I absolutely hate the geek/nerd appellation with all its negative connotations (in India, however, engineers are coveted marriage material, but I digress). Call me sensitive on this issue.
You aren’t a real geek until you can claim blue ink stains where your pen outran the pocket protector, benson. And is that a calculaotr or a slide rule you got there? 🙂
What the heck is a POTD?
And now a GOTD???
Someone…hello?!?

First year in college I used a slide rule. Electronic calculators came out the next year.
4 monitors, bxgrl. Not that I’ve got a monitor complex or anything.
cmu- and is that a bad thing? DIBS deserves it for the double monitor multitasking set up he has. Lessons for the rest of us.
oh GOD, no! Now we’ll have a GOTD award.

Did someone call for a geek? I’ve got my calculator case on my belt, the plastic pen protector in my shirt pocket, and I’m rarin to go!
Hey Rob,
Give me a shout, I’m in and out with the kids and work today, but I’ll have some time this evening. Nokilissa@nyc.rr.com
