Snaps- I use World’s Best and covered boxes.Arm and Hammer makes a litterbox deodorant that is great. Unfixed males smell very strongly but it does get much less so after fixing. Hopefully he hasn’t been spraying but isn’t he overdue for the big snip?
Snappy- Agree with Arkady on all counts. The one caveat for us is the lid. In our house the lid is necessary as we have some major excavators. They throw the litter completely up and over the sides emptying the box when there’s no lids so it’s something we can’t avoid having.
My neighbor adds the Arm and Hammer pet fresh carpet cleaner powder to her litter. Is this healthy for them to breath in? I dunno, Does her house ever smell? No, and she’s currently got 5 in residence and 2 boxes.
