CGar, manager of the PLUSA Records Department, has just reminded me that Tuesday marked the one year anniversary of the Open Thread.
I managed to dig up the first Open Thread we ever had, from December 15, 2008. While it only registered 177 posts and was pretty lame (some things never change) parts of it were notable, including the following:
1) Mr. B’s introduction to the Open Thread (what was that about keeping it PG-13 and polite?):
“You asked for it, you got it. Here’s your open thread for the day, where you are welcome to talk about anything you want. Let’s still try to keep it PG-13 and as polite as possible. This should be interesting!”
2) At 1:10pm, Biff becomes the first one to ever mention usual suspects in the Open Thread!
3) At 1:13pm, DIBS was quite prescient with his comment, “We know which post will be the longest day in and day out now.”
4) Even The What was downright giddy about the OT, “…This has been the most civil day ever on Brownstoner. I can’t believe it!…Please will someone call me a Asshat..Later Guys..”
CGar, some of the Schoolhouse Rock songs were truly great songs in their own right. My all-time favourite is Three is a Magic Number. It’s a really nice tune:

“Wasn’t that a Schoolhouse Rock song?”
I love Schoolhouse Rock, Biff! I have the DVDs and the CD, which I uploaded to my iPod. (Can you say “Pathetic Loser”?)
I’ll get back to you, Dave. Ahem.
