  1. Donald:
I think your plans sounds good, as does my husband, who is a bit of an urbann planning wonk. he’ll probably reach out to you to ask more questions, but only out of curiosity. the main reason we wouldn’t pursue something like your plan is that we feel we’re stuck with our place for at least a few years– we don’t think we could get a buyer to even break even on the purchase price. If i had to buy again, i would not buy a place with a flip tax, but is such a load of crap, so i think that’s a huge advantage you have right there

  2. donald, please ignore comment in your thread yesterday. as usual i spoke spoke and gave a sassy (did i just say that? lol) opinion on something i guess i dont know anything about. other than one other persno, i dont think anyone else in the thread was poo-pooing your idea. i think i spouted at the mouth because i saw ‘co-housing’ in your post and im against co-housing in general but only realized later, your project is not the kind of co-housing that im against.

anyway, best of luck with your venture. okay im going to the mall

    *rob*

  3. Donald,
My skepticism on your plan, admittedly based on about 2-3 mins of thought about it, revolves around:
    – how long the buyers’ money would be locked up
    – the fact that the ultimate cost is unknown at the point the buyer has to put up capital
    – concern over how to reconcile the buyers’ desire for individual input / customization with the wishes of the majority and the need to stay in budget. What happens if MyHome, or teh majority of other buyers choose finishes that I hate etc. Keeping buyers with very different needs and timetables on the same common path sounds like a cat herding exercise.
