here’s the deal:
Republicans aren’t arguing that there isn’t warming going on, they are arguing that the effects of CO2 (man made) emmissions are the cause of it.
There is no scientific consensus, even though Gore likes to say there is,
in fact there is a petition(out of the Univ. of Oregon)already signed by over 40,000 scientists, attesting to the fact that there is still a debate to be had.
They argue on the following issues;
Satellite altimetry measurements of total global coastline does not support a rise in sea levels.
Cosmic radiation is what is largely responsible for the climactic changes on earth as the waning of the solar wind allows cosmic radiation to ionize more atmospheric particles trapping heat
Studies submitted (by the now infamous IPCC scientists) consciously excluded data that did not support their hypotheses
A measurable slow down in Earth’s rotational speed has not been detected as a result of increased polar ice cap melting and accumulation at the equator (an ice skater slows down with it’s arms extended)
Cummulative hurricane strength has not increased, this is predicted by global warming, in fact it has decreased.
There is alot more.
The earth heats and cools according to it’s own geothermic cycles.
To ascribe the last 10 years to man’s CO2 emissions alone is hubris, without looking at all the other factors.
