C-Gar, the broker lied to you to try to get you to pay way more than you would need to to get the place. The broker would have benefited from a higher commission. It was fraud. You should complain to the state licensing authorities post haste. And if I were you I would name names right here.
I’m waiting for my broker to get back to me now. I’m pretty sure I still have all the back and forth emails and texts from July that substantiate what happened.
Dave, Chicken, I don’t blame the Seller for taking an almost identical all cash offer in this environment. But the facts were misrepresented to me. I might still have lost the apartment in the end, but, as I said, had I known the other offer was less than mine, I could’ve sweetened my offer in an effort to get the buyer to accept my offer over the all cash offer. But, having been falsely told that the other offer was $100k more than mine, there was no way for me to compete, so I dropped out.
I would have no problem naming the name of a scumbag broker if he/she did something like that to me. It’s pure misrepresentation. You should get all the details sorted out and report them to the Board.
Dave, this was the apartment for which I sent you the link. Etson, I may have sent it to you, too. I’ll think about naming names in the Forum, though I’ll have to use a different log-in name. I’ll certainly tell you guys who it is. One of my friends at work had 2 words for me: Estate Sale.
CGar:
ugh is all I can say. I would have been majorly pissed as it seems you were playing a fair game and you lost due to the all cash buyer and a scummy realtor
I understand. I was in a similar situation a week ago. We bid on a condo at a fair price, went up another $35K as the seller was holding strong and then the broker told me another strong offer(but not as strong….) had come in and that the seller might take it, I said look my offer is firm and we were only $20K apart at that point,so the next day I found out the seller took the other offer
so what can I do? you know

“Given the choice between your offer on the table and a cash offer of “only” $5k less, if I was the buyer I would definitely take the cash offer.”
Yes, so would I. Money talks. But I feel your pain, Car Gar!

Pretty sure I haven’t seen it, CGar, but I would be interested if you still are able to e-mail a link.

And, that buyer may have actually secured a mortgage as well. Check property shark.
