i will always give $ to someone with a pet though
I like the mariachi bands as they prob need the $ and are actually pretty good to listen to!
I also like the lone black guy who plays tenor sax usually coltrane on the F train – his playing always makes me sad
i’ve panhandled a couple of times, for a good hour or so each time, in the past, and you know looking back i cant think of a single person who ever gave me any change!!! that’s f’d up.

Wouldn’t work, Rob. You could always move to the next car rather than sit there and witness the act. There are at least 8-10 cars to every train. Obviously the homeless person could not actually proceed with his threat indefinitely.
There was a case several years ago in which a drunk businessman did just what you mentioned on top of the snack cart in the middle of an airline flight. True story.
There was a guy on the L platform @ union square saturday night, had a sign that said “piggy back rides 10 cent”, except the piggy had been crossed out and replaced by “bear” and he was in a bear costume.
The sign also said “no fatties” and “no erections”
I’m sure he was busy after all the hipsters started going home drunk.
Back to a previous discussion, I think Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies were pure genius. Especially for the set, art direction, and costumes. If I lived in New Zealand, I would have camped out in front of the WETA workshop and begged them to hire me in any capacity. As a former costume designer, and general techie, I am in awe of the detail and talent involved.

Actually, I like those guys. For some reason I like that kind of music, and those are among the few people I’ll give some money to. Like Gemini or NSR I appreciate talented performers and at times will show it.
I hate the guys who break-dance and do stunts in the subway cars. First of all, one of them will eventually miss their mark and accidentally kick someone in the head. Secondly, break dancing for money was already passe by 1990. Enough already!

Well, despite packing, we just had amazing rabbit sausage from Marlowe with CSA broccoli rabe and whole wheat pasta. I love mariachi bands.
