I wonder what the TOTAL of all donations to charities is compared to TOTAL bonuses is? .29% donation is a small fraction. I don’t deny that Wall Street donations are very important. But will donations increase 60 percent over 2007 as well??
Arkady, I think the commenter is right and the real scoundrel was the vet. How can you rack up $1,000 per kitten for what????? They needed a checkup (maybe) and a few shots.
Goldman Sachs was probaly disputing the outlandish charges of the vet and that’s why they hadn’t paid.
Unless you are talking about the proposed pay caps and how they are biting the hand that feeds the tax revenues and the knock on effect (such as this one) throughout the economy. Then I agree.
CH – our firm’s charitable donations are directly tied to profits. Not all places are the same of course.

I’m not following, denton. These donations are made freely and willingly. Robin Hood isn’t biting any hands.

DIBS, while I don’t disagree, you might say this is a case of ‘don’t bite the hand that feeds’.
As far as NYC tax revenues are concerned, you’d better hope that Wall St does pay big this year, the city sure needs the income taxes.
