She seems a bit better today. Still waiting to hear from the Vet on further tests. But, I think Dr. bxgrl figured out what’s wrong last night. The CDog has bad hip dysplasia, typical for her breed, which got noticeably worse about 6 months ago. I noticed that she started backing herself up against furniture to sit/lie down, butt first, and bxgrl posited that she’s been using her front legs to brace herself when she does, and that she’s probably strained her front legs in the process. That explains why she kept collapsing yesterday – every time she tried to brace herself, her front legs gave out, and she ended up splayed out on the floor like a bear rug. It also explains why there’s nothing obviously wrong with her front legs, no apparent injury of any kind, and no pain when flexing them every which way to test for an injury. Dr. cobble also did some research last night and posited that she may also have “elbow dysplasia” in front legs, also typical for her bread. I will raise Drs. bxgrl’s and cobble’s research with my vet and see what he thinks.
