  1. “that’s too much crap.”

Agreed. But I was coming from work and picking the kid up from daycare — and I need crap for work and he needs crap for daycare.

“also are strollers really that necessary? why cant you just get one of those pappoosey thingies?”

I have one. It’s great for relatively short trips. In this case, I was taking the kid to manhattan and back after daycare and the stroller was already at daycare so there was no choice (and I didn’t know I needed to take him when he got dropped off in the morning).

Also, carriers work better with younger babies who can’t walk and find it comforting to be in constant physical contact with people or for times you can let the kid walk partway (e.g., you are not in a hurry and the streets are not crowded).

  2. also are strollers really that necessary? why cant you just get one of those pappoosey thingies? i see people carrying their babies in those. they are very inintrusive, and i bet better for the baby emotionally and physically. im pretty sure ive never been in a stroller. my grandmother just carried me when she had to take me somewhere. and it’s not cuz we couldnt afford a stroller.

  3. quote:
I had a lot of fun last week going through turnstyles with 22 lbs. of squirming kid, a diaper bag, my shoulder bag, and a mclaren stroller slung on my back.

that’s too much crap. havent you heard of (damn i forgot the name for it… heather said it once..).. lots of parents now dont even bother using diapers to be green, and just dangle their babies over sewers and trash cans to pee and poop lol. i’ve seen it TWICE! in the same week tho, and havent seen it since, maybe it was just a passing fad or something. but the first time i saw it was like omg is that lady about to drop her baby in the sewer!?

  4. I caught two episodes this weekend (it just started so you can catch up) and I hate to say it but I did kinda think of you!

“I’d like to hear a good explanation of how this is safer for the kid than having him restrained in the stroller and me having my hands free to focus on keeping him and the stroller under control.”

I have always wondered this myself.

You may want to check out the BOB strollers. Really well made, priced reasonably. I’m looking at them for later on:
