  1. dh, I believe those fall under protected classes. Not entirely sure. I don’t think you can choose not to rent to gay people, cuz that’s sexual preference.

    You can’t discriminate either by not renting to a person with children. Altho there are some rules about having enuf sft per person…

  2. “so would it be okay to not let a gay couple rent a 2 bedroom?

    or a single mother rent a one bedroom?”

    The first instance refers to two people renting a place as a couple. That’s not a “share.” The second instance is also not a “share” as the prospective tenants are a family as opposed to separate adults.

  3. Corzine would have lost last year at this time also. Even if presidential election were same day. He did better Tues. than he would have done in spring (hardly time for any Obama factor to happen) where Cristie showed much larger lead (if you believe polls).

  4. “I recently saw a poll which said that 18% (yes, you heard that correctly) 18% of Americans think the Sun revolves around the Earth. I kid you not.”

    I saw that poll 11217.

    “20% of Brownstoners believe that Gingerbread Men live in the Gingerbread House.”

    BD, please don’t tell bxgrl. That’s the main reason she wants me to buy her the house.

  5. 11217,

    resorting to “brainless Americans” will not further your point, unfortunately.
    try the most recent Gallup poll though, since you like to quote polls;
    Obama’s 3rd quarter approval rating has dropped to 53% down from 62% in 2nd quarter. The largest quarterly drop since 1953. That’s Gallup, not me.
    Bottom line, you think Obama leads in a vacum, I don’t. Like it or not, national politics plays out in the polls locally, if only by energizing the opposing base.

  6. 11217;

    I am an engineer who has a minor in statistics. For a good part of my career, I was involved in statistical modelling of processes (in my case, it involved the characteristics of optical fiber). Precisely because of that experience in statistical modelling, I am wary of the global warming claims. Not saying that they may not be true, but I know that to model any process involves alot of assumptions, and your results are only as good as those assumptions. I am especially wary of those who claim that “the debate is over” or run around predicting doomsday. Anybody who does any kind of modelling is always open to improvements in it. I continually worked to improve my statistical modelling.

    Finally, I am always wary when science wades into the field of politics, as has happened with this issue.
