  1. Thanks for the update Cargar. We’ll confer via email with Cobble and see what we can come up with. If we decide on Ellis again let me know and I can go over and do the arranging.

  2. I have to leave for a meeting, but I leave you with an expansion of my take on Cat Stevens as sung my Sheryl Crow:

I could have given you a garden rental,
But instead I want to park my Buick Regal,
I got a permit from the LCP,
To take the sidewalk up again,

The curb cut is the deepest,
    Baby you know,
The curb cut is the deepest,

When it come to tearing up a landmark,
To make a nifty little place I can park,
I’ll kick a little old lady out in the dark,
So I can tear the sidewalk up again,

The curb cut is the deepest,
    Baby you know,
The curb cut is the deepest,

  3. I loved Snappy’s renditions of Nelly and Biggie yesterday. I was catching up on the OT on the train and I was laughing so hard I was crying at the same time. People were looking at me funny (not that they don’t look at me funny every day anyways).

  4. 11217,

just curious, did you cross-reference how many of those people who believe the sun revolves around the earth are also believers in Gore’s global warming.
you may be surprised, the “ignorance” you speak of, hardly observes party lines.

  5. “Cargar, what did Henry Public say about taking over the backroom w/out paying a fee?”

Was that only yesterday, Snappy? Yes, need to confer with CobbleSnaps and Biff about venue. Herkimer and I went to Henry Pubic for a couple of drinks and burgers last night. Since it was on official PLUSA business, we expensed it, of course (and hope people pay their dues so Cobble can reimburse us).

We met one of the owners, Matt, a really nice guy. He reads Brownstoner, and posts in the Forum. He was surprised to learn that regular Brownstoner posters actually know one another. His first question was, “What’s the story with The What?”, lol. They would definitely have to charge us if they gave us the back room since they’d be required to turn away all their dinner customers, unless we did it on the early side, like 5 to 8, which we said won’t work, or on another day, like Monday. But then he suggested we go take over their other place, Brooklyn Social, where they have no dining customers to turn away; he said they serve paninis there so we can have food if we want, and said we can definitely bring in our own desserts (which means I have to make m4l his damn brownies).

So, it doesn’t sound like Henry Public will work, but Brooklyn Social is a good option. I also throw it back to you, Cobble and Biff for venue thoughts. We can always do Ellis again.

  6. Gross debt of most industrialized nations is near 100% of GDP. italy’s is about 125% and Japan’s is 200%.

Servicing cost however is LESS THAN 2% OF GDP for everyone except Italy. For Japan it’s around 1% of GDP.

The devil is always in the details, folks.

DALLAS (Reuters Life!) – More Americans believe in a literal hell and the devil than Darwin’s theory of evolution, according to a new Harris poll released on Thursday.

It is the latest survey to highlight America’s deep level of religiosity, a cultural trait that sets it apart from much of the developed world

your implication was clear; those that have religious beliefs are to be marginalized as uninformed and “ignorant”.
you must try to read what you print before denying it.
