Dave, your experience with your Akita (and the one you ran into on the street) sounds similar to mine with the Chow. She doesn’t like other dogs much; she mostly ignores them – small dogs yapping and jumping at her leave her puzzled, and if large dogs get in her face or sniff too closely, the worst she’ll do is growl.
Denton, I have a great groomer, who shaves her undercoat in warm weather but leaves her top layer of fur, so she’s not too hot but still looks like a Chow.
The story of Hachiko made me cry when I first saw it. I literally sobbed.
Animals are incredible.
And I’ve been to Shibuya and seen his monument!!!!
Dibs – yes he’s a national treasure and simply gorgeous
do you know exactly what type of akita he is – are there different colors/coat ranges?
women are pregnant for 10 months? is that true? that’s very elephant like. i think elephants are usually pregnant for like 2 years!
*rob*
LOL. No cleanup crew necessary. I just have way too much olive oil sitting in my gut right now and it (my gut) is definitely cursing at me.
“Stupid mf’er! What were you thinking pig guts? Like I can digest all this smack for you on command?”

Maybe we need a brownstoner sports team- I dread to think. I can just imagine the team logo and names.

Yes, gemini…I posted on here about Hachiko a year or so ago….The Wikipedia story about him is very thorough. A really amazing and heart warming story.
Did you know that he is in some museum now in Tokyo, stuffed!!!
