  1. Rudy Guiliani was the most divisive, arrogant, petty, and vindictive mayor this city has had in living memory. I don’t understand why he is given god-like status by people. First of all, to this day, he’s never gotten past the fact that Dinkins beat him to become mayor in the first place. He started ragging on Dinkins before the swearing in, and hasn’t stopped yet. The Times article is a fair accounting of an administration during a tougher than usual time in our history. I think it’s telling that Dinkins, who never has gotten a fair assessment for his anti-crime initiatives, hired Ray Kelly as police chief, something Bloomberg was smart enough to repeat. Rudy fired Kelly because Rudy doesn’t share the spotlight well, and hired Bernard Kerik. Kerik’s biggest skill was in currying favor with the boss, and letting him get all the glory. Kelly’s programs were already in place, and were getting results. We can all see how well Bernie’s been doing. Oh, yeah, he’s in jail. I’m sure he called Rudy’s office for some help. I’m also sure Rudy said, “Bernie who? I don’t know anyone named Bernie Kerik.”

  2. Would probably cost a few extra bucks, but don’t see why you couldn’t get your screen names on the back 🙂

NYC is far better run than it was 30+ years ago

ETA you said better RUN. okay given, that yes. is nyc better in general than 30 years ago? depends on your outlook. i say most definitely not. it’s so whitebread, disney, and plain old gay. gay meaning dumb, not homosexual.

  4. beef bayonet, my little pony, yum yum and poon are my favorites on this list… the interwebs are grand! Ten years ago, where would I have found a list of genital slang?!

“Hello Mizz Librarian, I am looking for a book that might include a list of humorous euphemisms for my wiener.”

  5. dibs,

The good reasons include reasons that others have posted, but you disagree with them. Some people disagree with his policies on development, or take issue on term limits, etc. I don’t want to get much into my views of either candidate. My larger point was that the bad old days argument is an unrealistic view.

  6. “there are some hedges in England though to be over a 1,000 yrs old.”

There were some hedges in my father’s old Penthouse stash thought to be over a 1,000 year’s old. Will we ever see a return to retro bush?
