  1. Hard to explain because I have a quote that sums it up nicely which I don’t have handy right now, but kind of getting away from the “go to church once a week and feel good about yourself” thing and get out there and DO IT. However radical self-reinvention is a lot easier when you’re single and childless – also the reason celibacy was required in the first place.

  2. “tax the churches.

    I demand freedom from religion.

I wonder if there is a connection between these two sentiments?

  3. Somehow I don’t see Anglicans flocking to the RC. But it is troubling that the Vatican is reaching out to those most conservative members- sends a sad message about equality and equal rights. As religions become more skewed to the right, we will see more extremism.

Anyone read about the OKLA law about private information from women who undergo abortions? It doesn’t get sicker and more appalling than that. As I said the other day- everyone is entitled to believe as they want- just don’t impose it on those of us who don’t believe in the same things. Unless I am completely hallucinatory, I do believe religious tolerance was one of the most important factors in the founding of this country.

  4. “The Vatican so far hasn’t released the text of the regulations governing the new Apostolic Constitution, leading some Catholic canon lawyers to question how Pope Benedict will square Anglican and Catholic teachings.”

“The Apostolic Constitution calls for the creation of new church structures, called Personal Ordinariates, that will operate under local Catholic dioceses and be administered by former Anglican clergy.” WSJ
