benson- so sorry to hear of your problem (do you think CarGar bought that excuse? 😉
Arkady, THL- i have a ginger, a creamsicle and a beautiful pink tabby. That’s Little Stevie Wonder. Red cats are my favorites but I’m a sucker for pretty much anything with body hair and a meow.
Rob, house tours are expensive for a couple of good reasons. First of all, they expensive to put on. Our printing costs alone were about $3000, including brochures, flyers, posters, tickets, etc. We also had food expenses, transportation, balloons, tips for local helpers and flowers for all of our homeowners.
Whatever we raise over our costs goes to our non-profit community organization, in our case, the Crown Heights North Association, Inc, which is an advocate for local landmarking and preservation, as well as a community organization dedicated to improving the housing, commercial and cultural opportunities and institutions in Crown Heights North. We have no rich doners, and cheap dues, and mostly middle and working class members, so we have to raise money for our various programs and outreach activities.
*ouch*
No, just there hadn’t been a list of attendees at gatherings for a while, I missed seeing them.
